Waitlisted for a College – Now What

I’m waitlisted. Now what?

Advice from Springfield Academic: It is crucial you know the waitlist statistics for the school in question. You can find the percentage of students accepted off of a waitlist on the Common Data Set – a document of data that every college puts together after every school year. Google “Common Data Set” and the name of the school. Most schools will send directions to students who are on the Waitlist about next steps.

Advice from Mary Beth Stephens, MBS College Coaching LLC: It depends on the school. Research how many, if any, the school took from the waitlist in the past. Decide if you want to stay on the list. If you do, tell the school that, and keep them posted about awards, jobs, new events in your life. Tell them how much you hope to attend the school.
