Room 41 is FUN!

“Now class, today we are talking about fractions…Emma now pay attention or I will have to move your clip!” These are the sounds from my eight year-old’s bedroom after school, on the weekend or anytime she has a moment to play. She LOVES to play school. She puts on her lanyard with her teacher keys, a slew of crazy buttons and things, and gets her whiteboard and dry erase markers, and it’s serious business! When I stop in to join the class, many times I am turned away. Why? She just loves to do her thing. It’s her style, and she does best when she is alone with her imaginary class and all of her school supplies. I’m trying to get good video of her when she isn’t looking because the dialogue is so entertaining, and I don’t want to forget how cute this is!

I truly believe she will be a teacher someday. Why? She is compassionate and loves to help others. She is so naturally giving, and I think this is such a common trait of our most beloved teachers. They are passionate, and they care so much not just about the content and educating our children, but they care about our children. I’m in awe of the level of patience and enthusiasm that is needed everyday to run a classroom. My daughter would be a wonderful teacher, and most of all I think she would love her job. Isn’t that the dream for all us? Time will tell of course, but she is on the right path! In the meantime, someone help me install a secret video cam so I can catch it all in the purest form.
