Preserving the Feeling of Down Time!

crafts artWhat a wonderful holiday season it was this year.  We enjoyed a lot of extended time with our family and friends, and now it’s time to kick off the New Year with the right attitude.  My kids don’t always like my tendency to have them write new goal lists, etc. but it always help me clear my head.

My goal in 2014 is shared by many:  to simplify and preserve that golden feeling of down time in my daily life.  I’d like to ensure that I find at least 15 minutes a day to reflect on the gift of time, the gift of family and the gift of life.  It’s far too easy to have the weeks go by and think, what was most memorable in the last seven days?  If I can’t pull a few things out to cherish and celebrate, then how did I spend that time?

In the past few days, here are the moments I am most proud of:

Nerf gun wars in the basement with my daughters AND sorting and ranking my favorite Mr. Sketch markers to bring back the nostalgia of my childhood marker box that is now the favorite of my kids!  An unexpected nap and watching my dogs play in the snow.

How do you preserve those special moments every day?  I am challenging myself to WRITE them down weekly, if not daily, so at the end of the year I can see what truly mattered most.
