Preschool Advice for the First-timers

st johns preschool 1Who knew that long before the big yellow school bus pulls up to the bus stop for elementary school, we moms would be faced with the serious issue of “Choosing the Right Preschool!”

We’ve received several emails from area moms about how to evaluate and choose the best preschool for your child.  There are numerous articles found online if you google “choosing the right preschool.” One article we liked is found on Parents.com.

Locally, we have advice on transitioning to preschool from Springfield Mom and preschool teacher Mandy Maple at her blog, CreativeCents.

Thankfully, there are many fantastic options in our community and the surrounding area. I admire the dedication of all of the preschool teachers; it takes a lot of enthusiasm, patience and organization to guide the little ones through their first formal school experience!

As you prepare for this milestone in your family’s life, be sure to visit our preschool directory.

Consider setting an appointment at a few schools so you can gain a sense for how they operate and find the one that is the best fit for your child.  Onsite visits are where you will find answers to your questions and also where you will be able to see which program is the best fit for your child.  Also, be sure to talk with friends and acquaintances about their children’s preschool experience.

Preschool will be an exciting and fun time in your family’s life.  Enjoy!
