Mother’s Day Gift Giving Ideas

My favorite gifts from my girls when they were younger:

• Handmade cards with notes and poems.

• Art projects of any kind, custom made and unique.

• The “I Love MOM” hand painted coffee mug with their toddler handprints from years gone by. It’s still my favorite mug.

• Coupons for Free Hugs and Happy Coupons for when I’ve had a hard day.

• No whining coupons!

• Breakfast in bed, burnt toast and all.

• Individual “dates” with each child. If you have more than one child, it’s very special to get alone time, and these times are always memorable for both of us. Other siblings aren’t competing for attention, and you can give your undivided attention to that child.

• Alone time! An afternoon off for a long nap, time to read, exercise, manicure, or just to be!

• No chores! Let the kids take more of the responsibility for the day.

My favorite gifts to give to my parents:

• Time together: inviting them to lunch or dinner (and paying the bill) but more importantly, enjoying the one on one time.

• Handmade cards are welcome regardless of age. It’s the words within the cards that are most important, and I love to write my own when I can’t find exactly what I want to say in the “Hallmark” versions.

• Framed family photos that they always display proudly.

• Helping them around the house.

• Gift Certificates to their favorite places to shop, eat or entertainment.
