The Illinois State Military Museum is the only Illinois museum dedicated to preserving the artifacts and telling the story of the Illinois National Guard’s service to local communities and the nation. Exhibits display rare items from the Illinois territory militia of 1723 to the present day and include military battle flags, the Medal of Honor awarded to First Sergeant Johannes Anderson in World War I, vehicles, weapons, uniforms, equipment and photographs. Appropriate for ages 8 to adult. Donations accepted.
