Spring Opening Day at the ZooHenson_Robinson_Zoo_Ad
Date: March 21, 2020

In order to assist with mitigation and the potential for the spread of COVID-19, we will now host a soft opening on March 21st, 10am -5pm, to start our 2020 season. All extra festivities that had been planned for this day will be pushed back to Saturday, April 25th during our Dr. Dolittle Day Event from 1pm – 4pm. At this moment, Sangamon County Department of Public health reports the immediate risk to the general public in Springfield remains low. The zoo will be open to the public Saturday & Sundays 10am -5pm only, up until Monday April 18th where we intend to resume regular daily hours Sunday through Saturday.

The Park District and Zoo are following the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines for safety and the Sangamon County Department of Public Health recommendations to ensure thorough hand washing, practice social distancing, and increase the frequency of cleansing and sanitizing our facilities.
For your safety, and the safety of others, we ask that you do not go to the park if you or your child are not feeling well or traveled internationally to an area with widespread community transmission of COVID-19 and returned home within the last 14 days. In addition, we urge you to practice good hygiene including washing your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds or using alcohol-based hand sanitizer.

Henson Robinson Zoo will comply with any new recommendations or protocols directly from Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and/or Sangamon County Department of Public Health as they become available. Please check our FB page for the most recent updates. Thank you for supporting the Henson Robinson Zoo. For any questions, please call the Zoo directly at 217-585-1821 ext. 1704
