Event Details

7-8
Lincoln Tales Tall and True traces Lincoln’s rise from prairie state rail-splitter to America’s favorite president, this blend of history and humor will attempt to disentangle the man from the myth. Told from the perspective of Austin Gollaher, a childhood friend of Lincoln who once saved his life, Brian “Fox” Ellis steps into character to allow the listeners to step back in time. With several hours of Lincoln Tales to choose from, this program focuses on his childhood.
Originally presented at the Sesquicentennial of Lincoln, Illinois, a town Lincoln surveyed and christened with a watermelon, Fox has since presented this performance at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum and countless schools and libraries across the country. Brian “Fox” Ellis is an internationally renowned storyteller, author and naturalist. Fox is a frequent speaker on the modern Chautauqua circuit. As Austin he has given performances at most of the important Lincoln sites in Illinois. Fox is also a museum consultant who has worked with The Field Museum and The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library.
This program is part of the Looking for Lincoln Conversations series and is funded by Illinois Humanities and the National Endowment for the Humanities. It will livestream on Looking for Lincoln’s Facebook page and YouTube Channel.
