A Getaway Delight! The Cheshire in Clayton

Cheshire-Pool_St.LouisAn evening getaway complete with a crash course in British literature and even a place for your pet? It’s all happening at The Cheshire in Clayton. If you’re looking for a romantic and relaxing getaway with your partner, my husband and I were delighted to be invited to be guests at The Cheshire and would recommend this to anyone looking for a unique getaway in this beautiful Tudor style hotel.
Every room is named after a famous British author, poet or playwright, and the lobby nook and patio are charming for tea or a nice breakfast included in your stay. They offer complimentary bike rental and the highlight on a sunny afternoon is the beautiful outdoor pool and patio. The rain kept us away, but we would love to come back and spend our afternoon poolside!

We stayed in one of the Novelty suites themed on Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. The majestic front door entrance and the interior has a commanding presence of being onboard a luxury pirate ship including a fireplace and oversized jacuzzi tub. Some other themed rooms include: James Bond, Romeo and Juliet, and Death on the Nile. They also offer mini suites, poolside rooms and royal rooms.
For dining, The Fox and Hounds is a trip across the British channel to an English pub. Or, head across the hotel entrance to Boundary where we enjoyed a delicious brunch, and their famous make your own Bloody Mary and Mimosa bar! Starbucks_Tudor_Style_Cheshire_St.LouisMid-afternoon stroll down to the Tudor style Starbucks keeping in theme. The Cheshire is convenient to major St. Louis attractions, sports and shopping; so fill your free time how you like best and then head back to relax at the Cheshire. They offered a wellness and business center, but we focused on eating and relaxing! We didn’t see any pets on our visit but we saw the dog treat jar at the checkout!
