YMCA Soccer has been a greater Springfield area tradition since I was a child back in the late 1970’s on the Ace Hardware chargers soccer team! I was terrible, but I had fun and vividly remember our team pictures and the only time I got the ball I scored a goal for the wrong team. Thirty years later in the 2000’s, I registered both both of my daughters and joined families at practices and the Friday night traditions at the soccer fields where team snacks at the end of the game was the highlight! Joining the sea of minivans for Friday night and Saturday morning soccer at the University of Illinois Springfield (UIS) soccer fields is a tradition you don’t want to miss! From ages four to 14, their co-ed program allows young players to enjoy soccer in a positive and fun environment.
