Before you let the days slip by, take some time now to make this summer the best ever!
- SpMoms contributor Julie Kaiser’s tradition has been to take her child out for lunch at the end of the school year. They review the past school year and have a discussion about goals for the summer. That personal one-on-one time sets the stage for some honest talk about what is fun, and what is needed to succeed in school next fall. This year? Rather than lunch at a restaurant, they’ll enjoy a lunch in the backyard!
- For the second year in a row, Lincoln mom Bobbie Fults-Babbs made a thorough bucket list with her daughter. They talked about what sounded fun this summer–and what was SAFE this summer.
- Rochester mom Katie Champion Williams’ daughters have a summer bucket list with activities ranging from learning new skills to visiting fictional places! 🙂 Good luck planning that trip to Arendale, Katie!
- Chatham mom Pam Hulten’s kids Cate and Will are ready for summer! Check out their bucket list of mostly outdoor activities. Pam says her personal bucket list item is to try every flavor of popsicle at the grocery store before the end of summer!
- Springfield mom Trina Stremsterfer interviewed her kids for lists of their favorite things — we’re impressed with how they wanted to LEARN new things! They already picked strawberries, so that’s one check mark on Cora’s list!
- SpMoms contributor Lauren Coleman makes her kids’ bucket list experience crafty and fun! She cuts strips of paper and asks her kids to write each thing that they want on a sheet of paper. Ideas can range from a certain movie to see, a day trip, getting ice cream, or something that’s needed like painting the patio. They set rules that anything on the list has to be in the area. Everyone puts their items in the bucket. Each Sunday evening, they pull an item from the bucket and that bucket list item gets done in the upcoming week. They keep track of the strips of paper that are used by gluing them on a poster board so they can see all they have accomplished this summer. You could even use the bucket as a reward.
- SpMoms staff bucket list items include: lots of kayak rides, lots of grilling, and hoping our teens get safe summer jobs so they are out of the house!
- So what’s on your summer bucket list? Leave a comment on this post!
