We’re working our way through our list of Holiday Traditions (most we’ve done year after year, and some are new this year). One of my favorites is the “guess the ornament” game. We’ve enjoyed this since they were in preschool , and each year it gets harder as their strategies get better as they get older!
We sit around the tree, grab a few holiday snacks (a critical piece), and try to decide which ornament the person is giving clues about.
“I spy with my little eye…an ornament that reminds me of my favorite childhood game…” (My Ms. Pac Man ornament circa 1983). Or, my daughter might say “this ornament reminds me of my future!” (the beautiful ballerina ornament). Another clue might be “this ornament has warm colors and is kind of funny! (the handmade preschool ornament that looks more like a candy corn 🙂
We do this several nights for chunks of time until we’ve covered all of the ornaments on the tree (it’s kind of over flowing!)
I love this time of year because no matter what your traditions are, we all have them and they always bring a smile. It makes me want to break out the Xmas tree in July so we can sit around and go down memory lane more than once a year.
