In honor of the “#IMomSoHard” comedy tour coming to UIS Performing Arts Center Thursday night at 7 p.m., some of our readers chimed in to share some of their epic fails. Just remember, we all learn more from our failures than our successes and it’s also a great reminder to keep your sense of humor in all things parenting!

- When my son was young (maybe 3 or 4) I thought it would be cute for him to get in a locker at a local high school so I could take a picture of him fitting inside of it… next thing I know he shuts the door and it locked him inside! It was absolutely horrible. What was I thinking?!?
- when you flush the toilet instead of letting your potty training toddler do it. 😬
- I’ve got a mom fail for every day of the week…but the mom successes still outweigh them so- that’s also my advice. In the end- you’re still winning and your tiny humans are the prize!
- When I mean to encourage and instill wisdom but instead turn it into a 20-minute lecture where I repeat my main points several times
I forgot my kids birthday this year
- So school picture retake days are for me! How did I miss the first time around- tshirt and sweats, ugh! Anyone else, nope, just me, ok
- I have about 20+ different alarms on my phone for pickups and drop offs for my kids’ schedules. It’s inevitable that one of these days I will miss one and leave them stranded at a school!
- Constantly calling my kids by their siblings names. I’ve got four kids and do it to all of them
- Don’t like to take my son driving. It scares me and it reminds me of him being too close to leaving the nest!
- i told my child to wear socks this morning…oh the tears that fall
- “Talking too much” from my 15 year-old while he is learning to drive makes him nervous.
- Blasting gangsta’s paradise while driving. Daughter looks me dead in the eyes and says “No Mom, no, you are embarrassing me!” So naturally I start dancing and “singing” louder!!! 🤣
- My daughter asked for fresh raspberries not frozen and the store didn’t have any, so I bought blackberries, because she likes those, too. She refused to eat them.
- when you incentivize the kids with good grades (all A’s), then review and “help” them with their homework. Turns out the only help I gave him was bringing his A down to a B+….. It became very clear that I am “not smarter than a 5th grader”
