Seniority rules! Being the baby in my family of three siblings, I grew up understanding that unspoken rule. It’s fun to see similar dynamics play out with my two daughters now. The other morning both girls arrived at the breakfast table wearing the same shirt. The older one looked at the other…”OMG please go change your shirt…I’m not wearing the same shirt as you to school, that’s embarrassing!”
Without one word of fight or discussion, the little sister got up, went to her room and returned in a different shirt.
Wow! What I learned from this was a reminder that it is important to pick your battles. I think lil Sis decided it was not worth the battle over a silly shirt. (No doubt she’ll pick a different one! LOL)
I’m glad I stayed out of this discussion, as the problem was swiftly resolved, and we all ate our cereal and ran off to our days!
