The Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestra

The Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestra is a program of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, which is a nonprofit organization. The ISYO (formerly SVYS) has provided the only classical orchestral program for elementary and secondary students in Springfield and the surrounding area for more than 45 years. Illinois Symphony Youth Orchestras offers a variety of orchestra education experiences for youth and offers five levels of youth orchestras. Students with no prior musical background can begin in Starter Strings as early as third grade. Participation in the program culminates with the Youth Orchestra’s premiere high school ensemble, the Symphony Orchestra.
