Take a step back in time on our relaxing and scenic historic train rides to
Monticello on board vintage railcars. You may board the train at the Nelson
Crossing Depot (the main Museum site) or at the Wabash Depot in downtown
Monticello. The train ride is a seven-mile round trip that lasts approximately
one hour. Passengers may also choose to lay over at either depot to view
displays and catch a later train back. Get your tickets at mrym.org.
Mother’s Day Weekend – May 13 and 14, 2023
Make this Mother’s Day special by treating Mom to an enjoyable ride with her
family on our vintage train. Moms ride free on our weekend trains when
accompanied by their children!
May 20-21, June 24-25, July 15-16, August 12-13, and October 7-8. The 401 will
also be featured on Railroad Days September 16-17.
Step back in time and soak in the sights, sounds, and smells of our restored
1907 vintage steam locomotive.
The Donut Train – May 20, June 10, July 15, August 12, & September 9, 2023
Join us for a unique breakfast experience in partnership with Industrial Donut
on board one of our restored Illinois Central dining cars. You’ll enjoy a
selection of delicious donuts from Industrial Donut at your table, along with
your choice of additional breakfast items such as fresh fruits and yogurt. Ride
in style aboard one of our historic dining cars or reserve the exclusive private
car for this event that will be popular with the whole family!
Father’s Day Weekend – June 17 and 18, 2023
Dads ride our weekend train free when accompanied by their children! Take
Dad on a fun weekend train ride with the family.
Railroad Days – September 16 and 17, 2023
Come enjoy unlimited rides on our vintage passenger and freight trains and
motor cars. Visit museum displays, kids’ games, food trucks, and more! This
event is sure to be a hit with the whole family.
