I can’t recall where I first saw this quote, but it has stuck with me for some time. It’s now in my laundry room where everyone can see it. “Life isn’t always fair, but it is good!”
Mondays are a particularly good day to remember this.
Life throws us many challenges from the basically annoying to the life-altering, but despite this, much remains the same.
So many families deal with all levels and types of challenges; yet the next day comes just the same as today.
Our kids look up to us and rely on us to show them how to adapt, cope and adjust to those challenges. Just look at this photo of my oldest enjoying lunch at the Old Capitol Art Fair over the weekend. Simple pleasures: a big Sprite, a yummy lunch with an oversized cookie and spending time with family; that makes for a great day!
My daughter doesn’t have to (nor should she) carry the burden of the bigger life challenges that lurk all around. I am constantly reminded by watching my children that life is good. The joy they have brought to my life is unparalleled.
I just hope I can continue to show my kids how to twist, turn and evolve at every stage of their life. Ironically, the theme of my daughter’s first-grade school play this year was “when life gives you lemons…make lemonade!” How terrific to hear them sing and dance about such an important life lesson for kids of all ages.
