“Inspiring” Good Behavior

sistersWe all know that once you’re a parent, it’s not nice to judge other parents for whatever tactics or strategies employed to encourage good behavior.  LOL!  Recently at our house, I’ve been trying to avoid NAGGING for chores to be done.  The motivator? Cold hard cash. Yes, allowance isn’t a new idea by any means, but I do think some kids respond to it better than others.  In my house, the oldest sibling LOVES to earn money, loves to make a list and check things off a list and is saving her money for nothing else than an upgraded phone.  She’s doing great with the chores and responsibilities, I’m not nagging and she we created the option to earn bonus dollars with extra chores (doing the family scrapbook from our summer trip, organizing the game closet, things that Mom normally does but can delegate!)

For my youngest, she isn’t motivated by money, but she freaks out if she doesn’t have access to her technology assets!   So, chores are completed with the reward of fully charged digital access when done.
