Illinois School For the Deaf

The Illinois School for the Deaf (ISD), founded in 1839 is a state-supported public school for students, ages three to twenty-one, who are deaf and hard of hearing.

ISD is accredited by the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE), the North Central Association (NCA), and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD).

Residential facilities are available for students who live outside of a 25 mile radius of the school.

ISD is operated by the Illinois Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services.
