We found one Springfield Dad, Patrick Russell that created a unique gift that Dads can wear with pride and keep people guessing as to the acronym BMFD. We had several nominations to win one of these t-shirts and the lucky winner was drawn! Sandra Miller-Gilmore will be delivering a BMFD t-shirt to her husband Nick just in time for father’s day! Sandra Miller-Gilmore shared her story, and just in time for Memorial Day we thank this family for their service!
“I was deployed in 2013 and Nicholas turned six right after I left, Sullivan was 4. They are 17 months apart. Nicholas was in kindergarten. My husband Nick took care of the boys when I was deployed for six months. The best memory from that was the greeting at the airport when I returned. He is the Best, M-F Dad. Even today, I’m gone 3-4 weeks every year. But he understands, he’s in the Army as well (that’s how we met).”
Well we can add another translation to BMFD: Best Military Family Dad!
Brandy Fletcher also had a very touching definition for the acronym BMFD. Be My Forever Dad.
“My dad adopted me and chose to be my dad and love me unconditionally as his…. so I think that is what it should stand for!”;) Thanks to all who participated!
