20 Years 9-11 Honoring American Heroes

September 11 triggers every American alive on that day in 2001. Watching the numerous documentaries and news specials highlighting 20 years of memories,  I never tire of watching the relentless spirit of the search and rescue teams (both human and four-legged), watching the unity of our country during and after, and the respect and shared loss for every innocent life lost that tragic day. But, staggering loss of life is impossible to process.

September 10, 2001, I had just returned from a business flight home from NYC;  some of my colleagues flew home on September 11th (some on flights that were grounded en route home, some stayed behind in NYC).   We all stopped in our tracks that morning dumbfounded by what we were seeing on TV.   It took days, maybe weeks for all of us to truly absorb the impact of this attack.

My two daughters are part of the post 9-11 baby boom.  We were ready to have children, but yes, 9-11 inspired us to take that next step sooner rather than later.  Today, all of our children grow up learning about this tragedy and honoring all of the heroes.  They are raised knowing that we don’t stand down to evil; we rise above and come back stronger.  God Bless America indeed.

Has your family traveled to the Ground Zero Memorial?  I had was fortunate to travel there in August 2019 and it’s a beautifully done memorial. If you’d like to share a photo, comment or memory from this visit, we’d love to hear from you!  Post here or email to springfieldmoms.org@gmail.com
