When your kids grow out of the traditional egg hunts and cotton ball bunny crafts, it’s time to reinvent family Easter activities! Chatham Mom Amy Ferguson offers these suggestions:
Our family loves silly games!
- Last year for the teens we did a “GPS” egg hunt. We stuffed small eggs with one dollar scratch off lottery tickets, hid them and saved the coordinates, We made them wear cheap bunny headbands, and then gave them the GPS coordinates to track the eggs on their IPhones. I also purchased some LARGE eggs that had extra cool stuff in them that were hidden in harder-to-find spots.
- Eat the Donut – use a string to make a clothes line – tie individual donuts to the string. Have your kids race to see who can eat the quickest with hands behind their backs. I preferred the gooey chocolate glazed donuts so it got all over their faces!
- Glow in the dark Easter egg hunt, using plastic eggs and small glow in dark bracelets stuffed inside of them.
- Swing and Hit: Put a tennis ball in a leg of a pantyhose. Make a trail of water bottles on the grassy lawn. Have your big kids put the pantyhose over their head/forehead with the ball dangling at the end. Have them get on hands and knees and shake their heads to knock over the water bottles. The first one to complete the task wins an Easter Basket of prizes!
- Of course – “Minute to Win It” games are always a favorite too.
