Court Appointed Special Advocates- CASA: You Can Make A Difference!

On average, a child who has been abused and neglected in Sangamon County remains in foster care for just under 2 years. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for children is diligent to ensure the best fit with an assignment of a volunteer to a foster child’s life.

We pair the volunteer’s strengths with the child’s needs to create a long-lasting relationship. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges, advocate for children until their case is closed and they reach a safe, permanent home.

CASA for children is a volunteer-powered network of committed people from all walks of life who believe society has a fundamental obligation to these children. We are people just like you who believe that every child has the right to be treated with dignity, to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family.

Volunteers work with legal and child welfare professionals, educators and others to ensure that judges have all the information they need to make potentially life-changing decisions for each child. These stories have better endings because of people like you.

Sangamon County CASA offers their volunteer training over a 6-week period. Our trainer is flexible and accommodating to ensure every training class is successful!
