We have a lot to celebrate this month at Springfield Moms. It’s been 14 years since I launched the first email to area Moms featuring local events and resources. My kids were only two years and nine months old; my diaper bag was on my shoulder constantly! We were one of the first media “publications” to be 100% online. Social media was a vision of the future.
It’s been quite a journey as my oldest daughter Amanda (age 16) now drives my youngest Vanessa (age 14) to high school, and is visiting colleges and taking the ACT. But, as my children have grown, so has the website!
We’ve expanded far beyond resources for Moms with young kids, and thanks to the support of local business sponsors, we’ve been able to keep this resource FREE and open access. We’ve kept the name Springfield Moms because it’s written and maintained by local Moms, but the resources are for EVERYONE and support all of the cities in a 60-mile radius.
We still tackle parenting issues and resources from pregnancy to college prep. Your kids have grown up with ours, and we continue to reach new parents all of the time! Grandparents use our site to plan activities and outings with their grandkids. Aunts, Uncles and big brothers/big sisters do the same!
But, ANYONE can use our What’s Happening Calendar, Seasonal Guides: Fall Fun, Holiday, Easter, Day Trips, Free Summer Activity Guides and Neighborhood Garage Sale listings are a favorite for anyone living in the Greater Springfield Area. See what our readers love and find a new resource today!
“I love Springfield Moms. I have followed it from the beginning and have used it for different resources as my kids grew older. When they were young I used it for summer camps and place where kids can eat free. Now I still love to check out the events happening even though my kids are older now, I still find useful information.” Heidi Darrow, Sherman
“I love the Garage Sale information and the Holiday festivities you share. My daughter, husband and I have done a lot of things around Springfield and surrounding areas because of this free online service. We appreciate your time and effort in helping other families out!” Brooke Maynard, Chatham IL
“You guys are great thank you for all your hard work! Our family has been able to enjoy numerous events that we probably would not have known of if it wasn’t for your site.” Angela Manes, Riverton, IL
“I love your website, especially around the holidays! I always find something to take my daughter to that’s not expensive or free. I really love the kids eat free section as well!” Shoneka Hoskins, Springfield

“I love the site and am so glad to look up what events are happening every few weeks. There always seems to be something going on and it’s so helpful to be able to visit the site and find out when and where!” Gloria Hilt, Girard
“This website and e-newsletter are fantastic. They are really a one stop shop for information and events and ideas for parents, kids, caregivers and grandparents. I love the contests and prizes. They are well thought out and very on point with the demographic as far as what they would be interested in and willing to participate in. Keep up the good work.” Jenette Jones-Nall, Bulpitt
“I love using the holiday guides to find fun stuff to do with my kids and I love that the descriptions of the activities tell you if there is a cost. That way there is no surprise!” Kara Stogsdill, Athens
