Friday was a “bad day” for my daughter Amanda.
At first, I was really surprised to hear this. She had spent the day playing outside with friends; how bad could that be?
Me: “Honey, what happened to make it a bad day?”
Her: “I stepped in dog poop, got punched in the nose by a baby doll that Vanessa (her sister) had, got run over by a bike on my heel two and run over on my leg one time. I got in trouble and stepped on hard rocks in my bare feet. AND, I got a really bad bug bite right here and it hurts. I also stepped on a hard weed and I think I fell over once.”
Me: “I am so sorry! We all have days like that where everything seems just a bit off…Tell me, what was fun that happened today?”
Her: “Nothing, it was just a bad day.”
And so it goes…sometimes, it’s just a bad day. As we all know, they come and go, sometimes more often than others.
The words from Daniel Powter’s song (see below) “Bad Day” make it clear. I got out my iPod and played it for Amanda, and we were ready for a new day.
You can see by the photo above, the next day we were at a Springfield Sliders game, and it was a good day!
“Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day….”
Wishing you all a week filled with the good days!
