SPD_Southwind_Park

Southwind Park in Springfield  Every part of this 80-acre park exceeds ADA accessibility requirements. Besides the splash pad, there are wetlands, a wind turbine, solar panels and a geothermal system. 4965 S 2nd St. in Springfield. The splash pad is open from Memorial Day-Labor Day, and the parks hours are from dawn to 10:30 pm.  springfieldparks.org/parks/southwind

Comer Cox Park in Springfield This 6-acre park includes not only a FUN splash pad but also basketball courts, tennis courts, an open shelter, parking, playgrounds, a picnic area, restrooms and a pedestrian area. University of Illinois Springfield – while not officially a splash pad, UIS has a colonnade with fountains and children are welcome to enjoy. Don’t miss the koi pond just east of the colonnade.

Godfrey Park in South Jacksonville – 598 E Greenwood Ave. The park is free and open to everyone. southjacksonville.org/godfrey-park

Miller Spray Park in Bloomington – Playground and splash pad at the entrance of Miller Park Zoo. 1020 S. Morris Ave. Open seven days a week, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. mid-May through mid-September. Free. visitbn.org/visit/6161/miller-spray-park

Fairview Family Aquatic Center and Anderson Aquatic Center in Normal. 801 N. Main Street. Splash pad, lap pool, diving board and drop slides, twin race kiddie slides and more. Open 11:30 a.m. – 7 p.m. daily June through mid-August. Review their website for current admission.

Leon Corlew Park & Splash Pad in Edwardsville –  splash pad/fitness trail/playground at the intersection of South Main and Schwarz Road. This park encompasses two acres and includes an accessible splash pad with features ranging from gentle bubblers on one end to a large dumping bucket on the other end. There is also a traditional dry playground area featuring a toddler structure and a bigger kid structure with two tall and winding slides all on an accessible rubber surface. The park also includes a fitness trail, two pavilions and a restroom and concession area that has two family rooms in addition to the men’s and women’s restrooms.

Sudbrink Water Park in Beardstown Open daily noon to 6 pm. $4 entry for 4+ up, 3 and under Free. Zero entry, splash area, slides, zip line, diving board, rock wall…. something for all ages. Read more.
