Thanks to Lauren Coleman for these tips on creative ways to have fun with your Elf on the Shelf all through the holiday season!
Every December 1st our house, like many others, receives a special little visitor from the North Pole. Our Elf on the Shelf, Winka, is a favorite tradition for Isabelle and Ireland. He is also a really handy behavior tool. Winka shows up and my children are magically turned into angels. The only problem with The Elf on the Shelf is that I constantly wake from a dead sleep to realize, Winka has not left his hiding spot from the previous day! Winka is less creative with his hiding places if I happen to move him in the middle of the night.
I decided this year I would try something different. This year I put a reminder in my phone and included a calendar that has all of the different ideas I have for Winka to do each day. I scan each of these at the beginning of the week to make sure I have the supplies I will need.
Another tricky part about this little elf, is trying to come up with something for Winka to do each day. Thank goodness for the invention of Pinterest. Depending on how you look at it, Pinterest is single handedly making Elf on the Shelf much easier or much more complicated. Here are a few links to give your elf some great adventures:
