Our 3 children love the state museum. Only living under 2 miles from it we have even walked there. They love the book cubbys to read in and going camping in the red jeep. As Springfield is lacking in things for young children it would be very disapointing to lose a part of education and entertainment for the youth.

We have been going to the State Museum since I was a little girl. I am now 25 and have my own two children that I take there. They love it is something entertaining for them to do,we don’t need to loose anymore of the few thing in Springfield for our kiddos.

I have worked at the ISM for over seven years and I raised my son to go to the museum. I also went there as a kid. What’s sad is it is most museums cost money to get in and the Illinois State Museum is free to the entire community. Giving everyone access to knowledge and enrichment. Closing this museum down just proves that any acess to educational opportunities should only be provided to rich families. Museums were originally set up to provide the opportunity to give everyone acess to our history and unlike the Chicago museum we offer that opportunity. Now we are going to shut it down failing our mission to provide free public education to everyone. I say take some extra funds from the expensive Abrham Lincoln Museum and put it into the Illinois State Museum. they should be working together to keep each other running anyway.
