The Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois made a tough decision to temporarily close the Central Unit on 300 S. 15th Street beginning July 12th. This decision came as a result of cuts to funding for programs at this site, extensive delays in reimbursements, declined individual donations and fewer grant opportunities. Since then, St. John's Lutheran Church has decided to host a fundraiser to help keep the doors of the Club open. This is a HUGE task that will take the support of the community including people like YOU.

THIS Friday night, July 10th at 7pm at St. John's Lutheran Church on 2477 W. Washington Street there will be a fundraiser to SAVE THE CENTRAL UNIT of the Boys & Girls Club. We are asking that you bring and/or invite EVERYONE you know, especially those individuals willing to donate money (a.k.a Lincolns) to save the Club. The children of the Club will be performing a short play along with other Abraham Lincoln-themed activities. Dessert will be served after the program compliments of the church.

If you have questions regarding this event, please contact the Pastor of Outreach and Discipleship, Greg Busboom at 793-3933 or at pbusboom@stjohns-springfield.org.

If you would be willing to host an event like this for the Boys & Girls Clubs, please contact Jill Young Shurtz, President and CEO, at 544-0548 or jshurtz@bgccil.org.

The kids and families of the Boys & Girls Club depend on YOU!
