Sanity Saver by Allison Klint: Conquering The Paper Chase

Do you have one of those dreams where you are buried under piles of paper? Oh wait a minute, that isn’t a dream. That’s the everyday life of a mom. Paper, paper, paper. It comes home in mass quantities.

However, some papers are more important than others, i.e., the great masterpiece or A+ paper. Those papers make the paper “Hall of Fame” – the refrigerator. But is your refrigerator looking a bit overused at the moment? Or is there an endless pile of those same papers somewhere in your kitchen. Fear no more! Here are a couple great solutions.

  • First, buy a big bulletin board. A cork one is great and inexpensive. If you want, get the kids involved and have them decorate the frame. Hang the board somewhere in your kitchen or mudroom. Buy cute push pins if you want. Then, every time Johnny or Suzy comes home with a great paper, up on the board it goes.
  • Buy some plastic tubs. Deep ones or skinny ones, it doesn’t matter – just ones you can store with ease. Label them with each child's name. Store them in the basement, under their bed or in a closet. Each time the bulletin board starts looking a little too busy, then put each child’s papers in their respective tub. Easy, huh? Now you have their keepsakes all in order and you didn’t even have to break a sweat. The cycle will start again because we all know more papers are coming!
