I've never met Springfield's Carl Benton, but I will be there! A tip-top athlete and friend to many completed the 100 mile McNaughton Ultra Marathon in the Peoria area last weekend and then was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. Crisis can happen at unexpected times for so many families.
Don't miss the "Run 100 Miles for Carl" event THIS Saturday at Washington Park at 7:00 a.m. $10 per runner/walker and all money goes directly to the Benton family.
Thanks to the SJR's Jim Ruppert for showcasing this story. Read the article. We know there is strength in numbers to help his family through this time.
Anyone wishing to donate may send or take their donation to any of the Marine Bank locations and it will be deposited into the account for Carl and his family. Checks should be made out to Carl Benton Family Benefit. Contact Nancy Sutzer if you have any questions

I think this is great what the runners of Sprinfield are doing for Carl. I would love to give, but I don;t live in Springfield any more. I am in Michigan now and would like to know how i can give. I would gladly mail a check to someone if I had an address.
You can drop off a check to any marine bank location. http://www.ibankm arine.com Thanks!
