Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois exists to provide a supportive home away from home for families receiving medical care in Springfield. Its core program, the Ronald McDonald House in Springfield, opened its doors in February 1986. Located in the heart of Springfield’s medical community, the charity has provided more than 10,000 families a place to stay while their children are hospitalized or are receiving outpatient care.

The Ronald McDonald House has a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable living and recreation rooms, laundry room, 13 bedrooms each with a private bath, and many other amenities. A large pantry is always stocked with food available to guests at no charge. The House is owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, a local non-profit organization. We operate through a small paid staff and all-volunteer Board of Directors.

Volunteers are critical to our charity and help in many ways. Opportunities to volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House including serving as a guest chef and providing a meal or baked goods to our families; serving as a Guest Services Volunteer at the House by answering the phones, assisting guests with any questions or needs, helping to keep the House clean, assisting with office projects and much more; serving as an event volunteer for our many annual events including Family Fun Day, Golf Classic, Goldwing Ride, and others; or conducting a wish list drive to supply the Ronald McDonald House with much needed items!
