The Springfield Ballet Company is a civic, not-for-profit ballet company that has been entertaining and educating area audiences since 1975 and is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. The company offers three major productions at the University of Illinois at Springfield's Sangamon Auditorium each year, and also performs at festivals, schools and nursing homes throughout central Illinois. SBC is committed to providing equitable opportunities for company dancers to be trained in and to perform the art of dance, and to offer opportunities for all members of the central Illinois community to be educated and entertained.
Other upcoming SBC events include its 38th anniversary of The Nutcracker, on December 8 and 9, 2012, and The Sleeping Beauty on April 27 and 28, 2013.
