Thanks to Katie Rasmussen from the Springfield Art Association for sharing this good news! Gerhmann Park, located at 2nd & Calhoun Streets in Enos Park, is the recipient of a brand-new playground with the help of KaBOOM! Playground and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois.
The kids at the Springfield Art Association’s Summer Art Camp were asked to draw their dream playgrounds as part of an exercise; their ideas were then collected and used as the launching pad for the actual playground’s blueprint. I remember attending this art camp when I was growing up in Springfield, what a great opportunity for these kids to be involved in a project that they can show off to their kids someday…congrats to all!
The building of the playground is happening this Saturday, September 25 from 9am to 3pm. Although volunteers are required to be 18 and older, there will be plenty of other crafts and activities for children.

Great news! This is just what the Enos Park neighborhood needs! What a wonderful way to incorporate the SAA's Art Campers into the community as well! Keep up the good work, SAA, and Springfield Moms for spreading the word!!!
KaBoom! is a fantastic group. I think I heard it was started by a former Ben & Jerry's Exec. Caught a story on them on NPR last week. Very interesting.
