It's that time of year that the holiday gift lists are in full force. I recently enjoyed an hour of fun browsing the Illinois State Museum store. Of course, we all enjoy taking our kids or going to the museum exhibits, but I can tell you that making regular trips to the store alone offers unique, affordable gift giving for everyone in your family.
We've always found terrific birthday party or holiday gift ideas for kids. Their educational toys, books, puzzles, games and creative play sets are the best assortment in the area. Whether your child likes art, fantasy, pirates, farms, ocean life, cars or fairy princess castles; it's there!
Educational Travel Games including a USA License Plate travel game that kept my kids off their DS on our last daytrip! It was fun following the license plates and studying states and capitols at the same time. They have a nice bilingual game section as well
For grown ups, there are plenty of reasons to shop for your family, friends or treat yourself! The artisan jewelry is one of a kind and beautiful!
You'll find beautiful hand-painted recycled wine glasses, pottery, hand-blown glass vases, plates and decor. They offer a gift registry as well; so scan your favorite items and send someone into the store on your behalf! I treated myself to a unique nature-inspired hosta necklace by Michael Michaud. I've worn it a lot since, and I enjoy directing people back to the store to see the rest of his beautiful collection.
Most of all, you will enjoy Cheryl, Pam and Courtney, the friendly and helpful staff at the Museum Store.
Don't forget! If you're an ISM Society member, you can enjoy 10% off year-round. The family membership is very affordable and offers wonderful benefits while supporting all that the ISM offers. Learn more about membership here!
