Saturday – Sunday 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

At the capitol, visitors can watch lawmakers in action when the legislature is in session and tour its stately structure. Also contained within are offices for the Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, and Treasurer. Don’t forget to look for the state seal in the stained glass of the capitol’s dome. Guided tours are the best way to learn about this historic building and Illinois state government. Free tours are given every half hour on weekdays and start on the first floor, north wing. Enter through the east door. Park for free at the Capitol Complex Visitors Center, 425 S. College Street.
