Healthy Recipes Your Teen Can Make at Home This Summer

Are your teens staying home this summer while you’re at work? Trying to provide healthy food they can make themselves can be a challenge, but the American Heart Association and Hy-Vee is here to help! Registered Dietitian Charlyn Fargo of Hy-Vee and Springfield teen Katy Bretscher whipped up three American Heart Association recipes that your teen will love, and are easy enough to make themselves! And the best part is that all of the recipes do NOT need an oven or stove, and include healthy ingredients to keep your teen healthy this summer.

Healthy Breakfast – Bluey Smoothie

This healthy smoothie provides all of the nutrients your teen needs to start the day off right!

Healthy Lunch – Buffalo Chicken Salad Wraps

Make this recipe even easier by using pre-cooked chicken! This recipe uses protein-packed chicken, low-fat ingredients and whole wheat wraps for a nutritious lunch that covers all the nutrition bases.

Healthy Snack – Apple Nachos

What’s better than apples and peanut butter? This healthy nacho recipe can satisfy a craving for something sweet while giving your teen a serving of fruit and healthy protein.
