Edward R. Madigan State Fish and Wildlife Area, a 974-acre site along Salt Creek just south of Lincoln in Logan Co., is an ideal destination for those looking for a quiet and peaceful outdoors experience.

The site features opportunities for hiking, biking, canoeing, wildlife watching, fishing, picnics and hunting.

The forest canopy of Madigan SFWA includes oak, walnut, sycamore, ash, hackberry, hickory and sycamore; including the largest sycamore tree in Illinois. Native birds and wildlife abound.​

Secluded picnic areas at Madigan SFWA have tables, outdoor stoves and toilets. Drinking water and shelters are available at several locations. Park visitors also will find playground equipment and horseshoe pits available.
