Here’s the How-to!

Materials:
Crib- found Free roadside w
2 Crib mattresses- free (one came with the bed, the other a friend gave me)
White paint- Rust-Oleum- $10
2 American flags- free after rebate
Ribbon, Velcro, and thread- $5.00
Decorative pillow- $10
Chains- $20
4 Snap Hooks- $10
Crib sheets- $10
Total cost: $65
DIY_flag_AFTERDirections:
1. Cut the legs off the crib right at the base.
2. Sand, if needed. I had to sand because there was a lot of dents.
3. Paint. I chose the Rust-Oleum white(in a can) because it gave the crib a fresh look and it needed to be covered well to protect the elements. I painted all of the wood and some of the metal.
4. Repeat painting. I put three coats on mine.
5. While the paint was drying, I sewed the two flags together, leaving one end open. I slid the one crib mattress inside and sewed on velcro and ribbon to secure the edge.
6. I placed the crib sheet on the other and assembled the swing.
7. Hanging it was a challenge, but we figured out that if we hang one chain with a snap hook at the back of the crib, hung over a branch, and then secured it with another snap hook at the front of the crib it would hold it best.  Her daughter is testing out the swing in this picture!
