Join us for the annual Collector’s Day event. Local collectors will display their best objects and speak with visitors about the stories they tell. Once again visitors can also bring items from home to be identified by Museum staff and other experts. The artifact identification will focus on art, antiques, anthropological artifacts, rocks, minerals, fossils, and bones.

Visitors bringing photos of objects or specimens are encouraged to include a ruler or coin for size comparison. Visitors are asked not to bring live animals. Organic materials may have to remain outside the Museum. Individuals interested in displaying a collection as part of Collectors Day may apply at bit.ly/ismcollector2019 or contact Elizabeth Bazan at events@illinoisstatemuseum.org or (217) 558-6696.

No buying, selling, or trading is allowed at this event.

The participating experts will do their best to correctly identify objects; no guarantees are made. Due to time constraints, only one object may be able to be identified per person. Objects brought for identification will not be appraised.
