Ask the Dentist: Summer Dental Care Tips

Summer is the perfect time to get your children caught up on all those things that you don’t have time for during the school year. It’s recommended to have a dental exam and cleaning twice a year. Schedule an appointment early so you will have time throughout the summer to knock out any treatment or consultations your child might need such as:
Dental sealantthis is usually a quick appointment to help prevent cavities from forming on the biting surface of permanent molars.
Fillings which remove decay from teeth to keep your child from pain and discomfort
Referrals for orthodontic consultations where initially your child will get records, x-rays, and models taken of your child’s mouth to develop a treatment plan if necessary.
Referrals for wisdom teeth evaluations or extractions are great to do before your child starts college.  Addressing wisdom teeth will help your child avoid any pain while being away at school.  It can also allow you to “baby” them one last time before they move away from home.
While you are taking your child to their cleaning and check up, check out the options for whitening your own teeth to give you a nice bright smile this summer!
