Local heroes will be honored at the 2010 American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast on Friday, April 9. The 2010 Heroes Breakfast will be a colorful and inspiring event! Approximately 500 people will attend the event to recognize heroes in the following categories: Youth, Senior, Military, Public Safety, Education,Workplace, Healthcare, Community and Civic.
This is the 5th annual American Red Cross Heroes Breakfast, presented by Bank of Springfield. The heroes who will be recognized this year are Raegan Koebler, Lee Malany, the 766th Explosive Hazardous Coordination Cell, Chief Rich Adams, Sr.Marilyn Jean Runkel, Richardson Manufacturing Employees, EmilyZimmerman, Deana Achas and David Weir.
Ten local students will also recognized at the event as winners of the Youth Writing Contest. Each student receives a $300 savings bond. These winners were chosen from more than 500 entries. The contest was open to students in grades K-12 in Sangamon, Christian, Logan, Menard and Macoupin Counties. Students wrote about their heroes. The winners are Eilise Cummins, Micheal Stroh, Sydney Beck, Audrey Lanzotti, Cara Anderson, Colleen Creighton, Will Cullen, Daniel Gardner and Sarah Ashebir and Nolan Burkhart.
Presented by Bank of Springfield, this breakfast will benefit the American Red Cross Local Disaster Relief Fund to provide assistance to disaster victims in Christian, Logan, Macoupin, Menard, Montgomery and Sangamon Counties.
