Top Indoor Adventures with Preschoolers in Springfield

Feeling cooped up in the house this winter?  These activities are a fun way to escape around town with your preschooler. Comment with any favorites we have missed!

  • The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is a great educational tool for your preschooler.
  • The Chatham Public Library is a great resource for parents and preschoolers and has coffee and a snack!
  • Ergadoozy is another hot spot for the Preschool crew.  Let the kiddos play and tire themselves out in this fun play experience.  For more info click here!
  • Funshop is a neat educational experience for both caregivers and children. The Funshop program offers a unique education based environment where parents and children can play together.  Dozens of play center will capture your children’s interest, spark their imagination, strengthen their communication skills, and exercise their decision-making and sensory motor skills. Most of the program is devoted to self directed play however, each class also features small-group activities designed to develop social and language skills. For more info click here!
  • The Lincoln Library offers fun story times, puzzles, and toys for kiddos to enjoy.  Story Times and Library Hours here.
  • This next activity is a little “outside the box”.  My preschoolers very favorite activity is to make a grocery list of things we need and then push her very own small shopping cart at Hy Vee.  At Hy Vee they have carts that are perfect size for preschoolers.  Your little one will feel very accomplished by completing this task.
  • Scheels is another great indoor spot.  Take the kiddos to look at the fish.  Ride the ferris wheel.  Have the kiddos explore the animals.  Try out the golf section.  They can play in the play place.  When you have completely worn them out take them for a small snack in the cafe.
